Verify Your Identity
Once you have created your account on Linqto, the next step is to verify your identity.
Currently, the ID verification process varies based on an account-holder's geographical location; for the majority of countries around the world, Linqto uses Plaid for identity verification. There are, however, some countries are not supported through the Plaid platform so you may be directed to a separate experience.
Plaid Identity Verification
After clicking Verify Your ID, you will be asked to input your country of residence and your phone number to send a verification code. Your selection will determine which process you will follow.
If you have used Plaid to verify your identity in the past via your phone number, you may have chosen Plaid to remember your information for future use. With this option, you are saving identity information such as your name, date of birth, phone number, address, national ID number, and other identification metrics that are then stored with Plaid for future verifications.
If Plaid does recognize the information provided, you can choose Verify your identity and your information will be pre-populated. You will simply need to verify the information is accurate in this scenario.
If Plaid does not recognize your information (or you click Not you?) you will manually need to input the following:
- Basic Information (where you live and your phone number)
- Plaid will send a verification code to the number you input, which is required to continue
- Date of Birth
- Legal name & address
- SSN
After inputting this information, Plaid will verify this against their own databases to ensure that they have a match for you.
If at any time there is wrong information entered, you will receive the pop-up shown below, which will ask you to scan the QR code to continue by providing documentation (drivers license, ID, passport, temporary visa, or a residency permit card)
Once your identity as been verified, you’ll be then prompted move on to the next step of your Linqto Journey: attesting your accreditation status.
Frequently Asked Questions
Why am I being asked to provide my SSN, DOB, etc.?
Linqto is required to collect this information during the account opening process for all customers as part of our Know Your Customer (KYC) requirements. This information will be used to verify your identity and to produce tax documents (K1/1099) at year end.
Why did my verification fail?
Plaid completes a number of checks during the verification process so if your verification does fail, reach out to our Customer Success team for insight and steps to complete the verification another way.
I don't have a drivers license or passport, how can I verify my ID?
We require a government issued ID to complete the verification. Reach out to our Customer Success team if your ID is not accepted by Plaid to discuss next steps.
Why am I being asked to verify my ID over and over?
This is typically seen when there's a duplicate account in our system that's already completed the verification. As a first step, we suggest attempting to sign in to your other account, keeping in mind you may have used Google/Apple sign-in when initially signing up. Once signed in, you can delete the duplicate account via Settings.
If you don't recall setting up another account, reach out to our Customer Success team for assistance.
